Harvey E. Jordan Professorship of Anatomy
The Harvey E. Jordan Professorship in Anatomy honors a former dean of the School of Medicine. Mr. Jordan joined the University faculty in 1907 after earning his bachelor's and master's degrees from Lehigh University and his doctoral degree from Princeton University. Author of several widely used textbooks on histology and embryology, he succeeded the late Dr. James C. Flippin as dean of medicine in 1939. Mr. Jordan was president of the American Genetic Association and the Virginia Academy of Science, which awarded him its Science Research Prize in 1931. The School of Medicine's principal teaching and research facility bears his name.
