Samuel Howard McCoy Professorship
The Samuel H. McCoy II Professorship in Law was funded by Mr. McCoy's estate. The chair supports the work of a faculty member who is an expert in insurance law. Samuel McCoy (McIntire '47, Law '50) was general counsel and senior vice president for the United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company in Baltimore, Maryland. Having joined USF&G in 1951, he was named counsel in 1964 and assistant vice president and corporate counsel in 1980. He died in 1988. Mr. McCoy's bequest to the University also included woodcuts, etchings, and lithographs, among them works by Thomas Hart Benton and Georges Rouault.
