Goldsmith Research Professorship
Established in 1986, the Horace W. Goldsmith Research Professorship in Law was funded by the Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation, which was directed by the late James C. Slaughter (College '49, Law '51). Chairman emeritus of Associated Metal and Minerals Corporation and a managing director of the Metropolitan Opera Association, Mr. Slaughter was a trustee of the Law School Foundation. He served on the school's Campaign Executive Committee (2000) and the Law Grounds Building Advisory Committee. He and the foundation also helped create the Horace W. Goldsmith Distinguished Teaching Professorship in the Humanities in Arts & Sciences. The Goldsmith Foundation is now directed by Mr. Slaughter's nephew, William A. Slaughter.
