Elizabeth Duvall and Richard A. Merrill Professorship
The Elizabeth D. and Richard A. Merrill Professorship in Law was funded by D. Lurton Massee, Jr. (Law '61), and his colleagues in the firm of Kilpatrick & Cody. The chair honors the former dean of the School of Law and his wife. Richard Merrill, who served as dean from 1980 until 1988 and was chief counsel to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, is an authority on administrative, environmental, Native American, and food and drug law. Lissa Merrill is a former middle school teacher and former chairman of the board of the Virginia Unit of Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic.
