David Lurton Massee, Jr. Professorship
The David Lurton Massee, Jr., Professorship in Law was funded by Mr. Massee's estate. A tax attorney with Kilpatrick & Cody in Atlanta,Georgia, Lurton Massee (Law '61) was a pioneer in linking license renewal to continuing education for practicing attorneys to ensure that lawyers keep abreast of developments in their fields. Mr. Massee helped finance a research professorship in honor of his friend and law partner Albert C. Tate, Jr. (Law '63). He also funded a chair honoring former Law School Dean Richard A. Merrill and his wife, Elizabeth Merrill. Mr. Massee died in 1993.
