Class of 1948 Professorship
The Class of 1948 Professorship in Scholarly Research in Law was funded by members of the class to mark their fortieth reunion. Francis T. Carr, a partner with Kenyon & Kenyon in New York, chaired the fund-raising effort. Vice chairs were the late D. Peck Hill, who earned a second law degree in 1950 and was a partner in the Washington, D.C., firm of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart; and the late Foster D. Arnett, former senior partner in Arnett, Draper & Hagood in Knoxville, Tennessee. Mr. Arnett was a former president of the Law School Alumni Association and a former chair of National Appeals for the School of Law. He also served on the Law School's Campaign Executive Committee. Also instrumental in funding the chair were Ashby B. Allen, the late William D. Ford, the late John C. Kenny, and Harry E. McCoy, Jr.
