Barron F. Black Research Professorship in Law
The Barron F. Black Research Professorship in Law was a gift of Aileen T. Black in memory of her husband. University rector from 1949 until 1956, Barron Black (College '17, Law '20) served on the Board of Visitors for more than a decade. A partner in the firm of Vandeventer Black LLP, Mr. Black was instrumental in creating the Law School Foundation and was a trustee from its inception in 1969 until his death in 1974. Aileen Black was a director of the Norfolk Symphony, now the Virginia Symphony. She died in 1990.
