John Langbourne Williams Memorial Fund

Langbourne Williams created this memorial fund in 1955 to honor his grandfather, John Langbourne Williams (Grad 1851), a loyal and interested alumnus, according to the grandson. Five of John Langbourne Williams' sons, 25 descendants in all, attended the University. Designed to further the love of learning at the University, the John Langbourne Williams Memorial Fund provides support for the Society of Fellows to enable senior members of the faculty, and the junior fellows they appoint, to meet periodically and discuss issues of broad intellectual appeal.
